Castaway

Castaway

light my fire to your soul’s breath
my desire is held as strong as the blade’s edge
falling glimmering and silent
slipped out of reach

cut the air with these delicate moments
to sever the strands of rope and set you free
castaway
on shores lost and twisting ankles on rocks carved with the angst of time
waiting for our sorrows to wash away
then we’re adrift in the swirling currents of salt and seaweed
sand and shoreline
the ocean splashing in a soliloquy
as we wander with surreptitious thoughts
among the cold fingers of its coast

lead me out to your sea
across the headland into this moody night
clouds rush in to an aching land that is so vast it almost separates the here from the now
the you from the me

i sit and wait on the edge of a moment that seems so real
of a journey with energy pulling me out
to where i can’t see what’s at the bottom of the ocean
salt blinding my vision
i blink the memory from my eyes

Great seascape Laurette, love that long exposure and the deep shadows.
Wonderful words too, they fit your photography so well.

  • Laurette Ruys replied

Thankyou heaps Jared. It was getting pretty dark when I took this pic and I stepped in a big puddle when I left as I couldn’t see. Glad you like the words. I actually wrote them to match the pic :)

mmmm i don’t know what to comment on first…I think i got to comment on the words because it’s some of the best I’ve seen from you i think, my eyes just kept opening more and more as I read on..So touching and full of swirling emotions, “clouds rush in to an aching land that is so vast it almost separates the here from the now
the you from the me” WOW!! I want to pick up my guitar and write a song now, Thank you:) The shot is as im now always expecting our of this world, the subtle tones are stunning, the way you draw me into the shot is truly your talent showing. Just wonderful all round Laurette 8-DDD

Stunning depth in both image and words Laurette. You seascapes generally are an inspiration and this is no exception.
Great sky, subtle hues, converging, lines this has it all. Good one.

  • Laurette Ruys replied

i’m glad you think of them as an inspiration because the ocean is one of the most insipiring elements in my life (as I’m sure it is in many others’ lives), if not the most. I love your seascapes too Boz. Thanks for your comment, i liked the lines in this shot too, somehow mother nature has a way of balancing everything out :)

I love how there is a slight movement in the clouds, not too much, but just enough to show the depth. wonderful coast imagery Laurette.

  • Laurette Ruys replied

Thanks Luka, this was only an 8 second exposure, but the clouds were moving pretty quick in all the wind. THanks for your comment :)
