Yoga students at the Sri Patanjala Yogashala, Jaganmohan Palace Circle, Mysore, India.

This is the entrance to the yoga shala. Students enter from a Hindu temple on the street, and come up these stairs to the first floor, leaving their shoes at the top. All students enter this way, however only Indian men are permitted to practice here. Western students and Indian women have separate places to practice.

Krishnamacharya once taught BNS Iyengar (who now runs the shala), Pattahbi Jois, Indra Devi, TKV Desikachar and many others in this yogashala. It’s an amazing place to practice in.
