double take

This was not the way this was supposed to come out. The danger of working with mirrors- they see what they want to see.
Taken a little over a year back, found it while looking for something fun to upload for my bubblesite.

And of course 100% digital free. :)

The mirror effect is so neat! And the falling strip of film..ahh. I’m always lovin’ your stuff. =)

  • laurenrabbit replied

It has been quite some time since I’ve shot strip film but it does make a much more photogenic model than sheet film.

Awesome image, There’s a face on the back sheet. Was that on purpose?

  • laurenrabbit replied

It was not. It’s a rust stain. I never saw the face until I printed.

Lauren, I loved this image and it took me a long time watching it to understand the reflex in the mirror. I’m still not sure if I understood. This photo reminded me of a cronicle from a Brazilian lady named Clarice Lispector about mirrors (espelhos in Portuguese). She says that a mirror is the deepest space that exists and she also calls it a field of silences. That is what I saw in this photo: a beautiful, beautiful field of silences that filled me with wonder. Congratulations for your work.

  • laurenrabbit replied

Thank you for taking the time to consider the piece. There is really no control in arranging mirror to reflect mirror to reflect me. I set them up the best I could and left the rest to fate- which is why the image turned out nothing like I expected, but you accept it just the same.
