Apophysis…. as always. I really am a fan of the light backgrounds in fractals, they can be hard to work with in as much as white is so much more unforgiving than black, but I really do like the etherealness … is that a word ? ;-) I really like the delicate look to the fractals. Though in this case, as Helene pointed out, the background picked up the color from the image itself & it’s no longer white but has indigo undertones to it which help to soften it even more.

    Gorgeous lauren – but the background doesn’t look white to me. More of a purple/indigo.

    Thanks Helene… well the background started out life as a soft white but along the way it picked up color from the image itself. I guess I should edit my description ! hugs ! ;-)

    Fabulous. Lauren…and I agree wholeheartedly about the white backgrounds, although many times I have tried it and the fractal itself looks washed out. Occasionally it works well…I suppose it all depends on the quality of the original fractal? This one is delightful…I have yet to work out the kind of fractals that you create…it might take me a few years though , LOL

    Working on a white, or light background depends a lot on the flame itself plus the colors you work with. A lot of times part way through playing with the fractal I start trying to find the right gradient because a lot of times the way the colors interact with the design can actually change the look of the fractal itself, you know ?

    The one post editing program I love to work with is Photofiltre, it’s free… always important LOL … & I love the adjust tabs. The “add shadows” & “add highlights” really give your fractals depth & help make them pop. I use them all the time & I love them.

    Thanks ! And it really is surprising what a light background does to a fractal. A light background is very unforgiving as opposed to black. But I really enjoy working with them. ;-)
