Marathon Motors

This door is the entrance to a car factory that only produced cars for one year. It was originally called Southern Motors. Later it changed to Marathon. They sold what they called touring cars. 4 different versions. The building has sat abandoned until recently. It has been preserved by the city of Nashville, and considered a historical landmark. Now it is being renovated for upscale apartments. The wheel on the door is one of the original wheels out of the factory. The plant opened in 1914 and closed production the same year from financial problems. They continued to sell parts until 1918.

Thanks, I took more pictures of the building on my 35mm. I am hoping there are some good ones on the roll. There were cars in a showroom, but the glare on the windows prevented me from getting a good shot. I will try to find out how to get into the building to take pictures of the cars. The original license plates were on the cars.
