I am an artist and photographer, born and raised in the north of Ireland. I graduated in Fine Art Photography in Exeter, Devon, England.

For as long as I can remember I have been concerned with the significance of the hold that history and the past have upon the culture of Ireland. Whilst avoiding political statements, my work has always centred on the recognition of the relationship between people and the landscape and the way in which patterns of life become recorded within the environment alongside the continuance of natural processes.

My paintings and photographs depict landscapes and interiors were strong themes of absence and presence abound. The sense of place is portrayed both in the depiction of scenes and in the titles of paintings which invite the observer to make a connection with them and recognize their traditional and cultural significance. My paintings often contain a sense of exuberance in the brightness of their tones and the freedom of the painting style.

Through my photography I seek to convey a sense of place whilst paying homage to my preoccupation with the traces of human presence. Blending shots within landscapes with intimate views of interiors, cameos and still-lives that with shadows and play of light
