Laura Jane West

I love to experiment with texture, building up the layers of each piece using a variety of traditional and contemporary techniques; mixing ink and pastels, watercolours and pencil, overlaying several photographs of my paintings to create new graphic illustrations, even scratching and carving out images into thickly painted pieces of board. I dont have a preferred medium as such – usually the subject or occasion tends to dictate. Although, with my heart sat firmly in Graphic Design and Illustration I work to create stylised images of things we look at everyday, something that you might like to look at just that little bit closer.
