Fat and Gristle

I eat the fat and gristle,
so that you may have the tender part.

No longer will you hunger,
I will devour the ugly parts.

So that you might enjoy,
so that you won’t hunger.
So that I might employ,
a better life for you.

Let me absorb,
the spikes of wrath,
Let me impart a better path….
for you.

I will digest the inconsumable bits,
and make the most of it……
so that you,
may have a better life.

I will be the compost pile,
and nurture you,
all the while………
……….
…………… While, I eat fat and gristle…….
………………………………………………for you.

That is a wonderful metaphor..o dedication and love to another one.
I personalize though here…and find that I would never do that for another one…unless it would be a child.
If there is enough food and the person is able and healthy, I would share in equality what I have, considering not the piece or the quality but the needs.
If I need tender parts..I would have them, if we both need them, we both have them, and if I love the “ugly parts” (which I adore in the poultry for example) I would take those and the “breast” to my dear one. But If this one is sick and cannot eat but “breast” I would give it to him or her.
At the end…I am turning around your own problem and get to the same spot..
your poem and thought is generous, lovin and precious, Laura. It´s just that
I have to express some inkling…(smile)
    Rosa

  • It was written, from me, for my children….
in life, I strive for the best for them, and in life, they will have to eat some gristle, ……..
but, I always try and give them the opportunities for the best of the best…. and, in order to stand up, for a child, you must learn that by falling down, there is a lesson to be learned…. I would be there, to help them understand…… how to get back up.
Thank you, Rosa, for your insight, it is always a pleasure to see how you percieve my writing xxx
