Swallowtail Butterfly : A Stoem.

I ate the lemon leaves
like there was no tomorrow.

I didn’t realize,
I would hybernate through
winter.

Now, I found a limb,
of which to cling to.
I will hybernate (overwinter),
and hatch in the Spring.

Thanks for taking care of me….
I love my glass container.

I’m sleeping now,
I will see you next Spring…..
………. and,
………………….fly
………………………………away.

Artist's Description

A “Stoem”, and I coin that term !!!! A “Stoem”, is a story and a poem, combined.

Anyway, this is a story of how we are raising a Giant Swallowtail.
We found our caterpillar while he was munching on Lemon Tree leaves.
Brought him home, put him in a glass container,
fed him with the freshest of lemon leaves.

Now, he has stopped eating, and is in the process of forming a chrysalis.
In the Spring, (4 months from now) we will release him into a new world.

Swallowtail Butterflys are the largest butterfly in North America !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
