Here I am
in this desolate land
a place of thirst
of which most people die
living water, they do not find

People with too much pride
boasting of all they have
yet starving to death inside

they do not see
all it is they do
all they see screams for renewal
but they shrug it off
put it off to the side for when they have time

For in their world
time is meant to spend
as they so choose,
whether they win or lose

So they take their gamble
in time they find
the house always wins
sorry, no more tries

If only
you laid aside your pride
and let love abide inside
you’d see heaven’s gates
on the other side……
