I read a book called Desert Solitaire by Ed Abbey (about his job at Arches) about a month ago, and now i see why he loved the scenery! great shot.

Ahhhh! This is one of those PERFECT photographs! There is absolutely no way to improve on this… it is an instant favorite. The colors, the composition, the lighting, indeed, the stars and planets all lined up for this one. This a great example of why Arches National Park is on my top five places to visit. Thank you for climbing to the top of that pillar to share this amazing view with us!

Isn’t the land fantastic? I love Utah except it gets too cold in Winter and too hot in Summer.

Ya know, Larry… This is one of those type of captures that are impossible to improve upon. Comp, pov, dof, lighting, and color are all perfect! Even the clouds cooperated to give scale without imposing on the landscape subjects. Masterpiece, and well worth the early morning hike. Congrats on a well-deserved home page feature!
