Turkish Delight

Just south of Broome, Western Australia is a place called Barn Hill. On the beach there are many rock fragments of different colours. Some are striated mixtures of rock like this piece, and others are just one colour.

The clear, brilliant late afternoon sun of WA is augmented by the reflection from the sea, making the bright colours very striking.

Wow, it looks like opal. Is it the nacre from the dead sea creatures who got squashed to make the rock?
