Swift S1 Glider G-IZII (just before crashing)by Andy Jordan
This Swift S1 glider is one of 35 built and is the only one in the UK, sadly on Sunday 22nd August at the Shoreham airshow this glider nose dived into the runway seconds after this shot was taken and was badly damaged, thankfully the pilot managed to release himself from the wreckage and was taken to hospital as a precaution. Later we heard he was not seriously injured…….
Well, having gained my Glider pilots licence I can honestly say it teaches you committment. If you are going to land you had better do it properly. You can’t open up and go round again! Nicely taken Andy. Glad the pilot was OK. – Ted
