I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!

Last Friday, January 9th, a car hit the gas instead of the brake and drove into our building where I work. It was my office right where I sit that my husbands aunt hit. I have 2 metal desks in my office and the car shoved both desks 3 feet which is as far as they could go because the bigger desk had been shoved, the corner of the big desk had been shoved into the opposit wall. If I had had a wooden desk or even 2 wooden desks I wouldn’t be here today. I had luckily pulled out the middle drawer right in front of me to get something out and was scooted back against the oak desk that sits behind me when the car hit the building. I just remember 3 things: I heard a big, loud bang, then the window casing fell on my arm and then I saw this gray car still trying to get inside. I don’t remember anything else. I got out of my chair evidently and said “OH MY GOSH!!!” then after I realized what had happened I started crying and cussing – and I DON’T USUALLY CUSS! I am ok except for some chiropractic adjustments to make my spine all up and down – feel better and my arm and legs. Atleast I am alive! oh and my husbands aunt is ok – just has some very sore knees. She still thinks she can drive ok and will be very upset if anyone tries to take her drivers license and key away..

I agree, thank God you are alive. I have heard of these cases where people were badly hurt or killed. It gave me a scare.I am in Hawaii but check in once in a while. I am so glad I logged on to see this. I hope you are feeling better soon. I’ll be thinking of you. Hugzzzzzzz!

thank you Lori; you are so lucky to be in Hawaii! I had emergency surgery a month ago almost to the day from this accident and I can tell you I need a vacation! Actually the hop convention is the end of this month in Palm Desert and we will be driving there; so I will hopefully get some r&r at that time.

Wow, that looks like a very close call, good thing you had that drawer out. How scary. Doesn’t look like January is starting out too good for you. Hope you get better soon.

  • lareejc replied

thanks Rosalie…it wasn’t until yesterday in the wee hours of the morning that it dawned on me that if these two desks were wood instead of metal – I wouldn’t be here; she had it floored and the car hitting the wall and the wall hitting my metal desk and then it being shoved into an even bigger metal desk that punctured another wall was all that saved me. It’s strange how now when I hear a car revving it’s engine, or tires squeeling, even car doors slamming just make my heart start beating fast and my blood just kinda runs cold – or something!

thanks pat – I am not moving around very fast because of the back pain, neck pain and my arm hurts when I do certain things, and I’m only taking pain medication when I know I have to get through the next day – like tommorow morning – of all things I am getting a perm and those darn sinks they lay your head down in hurt the neck anyway! but my dear chiropractors made an appt for Saturday just in case I need it and I know I will!!
