The light on the tanks in the background is what drew my attention to this scene. I wanted to capture the sense of brightness, heat and the reality of life for these women in a Lisu village.

Thanks, the light was perfect here to really make something of a feature of normally boring concrete watertanks. And I always enjoy painting people :)

Thanks Vicky…I really enjoyed painting this one, which I reckon always helps the finished product, because I paint more intuitively then. I could see the “romantic” story side of this subject before I painted it, and somehow that came through.
