August 2012 Juried Invitational Exhibition

Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…
This is my “study” of Paul Klee piece “Versunkene Landschaft”. I have a real appreciation for his works after doing this and seeing how complex it is. From a first glance it may appear simple but when you try to reproduce it the complexity comes out. I am happy with the final result and glad to share it with you.

I did add some of my own elements although I kept a close similarity to his original. This painting was done in Abstract Workshop.
20"X20" stretched canvas
acrylic, oil pastels, watercolor pencils
Original is available.

What a great piece, Lana. I can see a LOT of work went into this. It’s really bold and beautiful. Love how you made the Klee symbols stand up off the canvas with shading and borders. All of that gorgeous texture makes it look like its embroidered on fabric; and I get a sense of textile, from Klee’s original Versunkene Landschaft, too. Makes me wonder if you were thinking that while painting. Congratulations on this striking piece.

  • Oh wow, Frannie! How great to hear your thoughts, my BIG thank you! Yes, it was a lot of work and not very much time. No, I have not think about textile but can see now that it is indeed has that “sense of textile”. You have a great art minded eye, Frannie! I really appreciate all your great observations!Thank you again!

Very Dynamic Work! Can you send this to "Collage With Tradtional Mediums’?

  • Thanks, Robin, for this wonderful comment! I’m so glad you like it and great thank you for an invitation but I don’t think it is suitable for “collage” group because it is textured and painted only.
