They say that there’s none more Scot than the Scots abroad.
I hope that’s true enough to gain admission to your fine group.
My name is Cameron Lamond and I am from the small island of Cape Breton at the northern tip of Canada’s Ocean Playground, Nova Scotia.
After the Highland clearances, my ancestors, along with many other Highlanders, sought refuge where they could find it. A large number ended up on the rocky shores of Cape Breton and finding it densely forested, cold, rugged, forbidding and achingly beautiful, declared it, home.
The Gaelic, though not thriving, lives here on the tongues and in the hearts and the music of the people.
If accepted, I hope to include some photos of my home. I think you will find them more than reminiscent of the Old Sod.
btw, we are proud to have the only single malt whisky distillery in North America.
