Nuzzle with Your Muzzle

Everyone has something that makes them feel safe…I nuzzle.

Nuzzle with Your Muzzle belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical and WMG

In the dictionary, nuzzling is defined as an affectionate thrust of the nose or muzzle. (Nuzzle with your muzzle?) Actually, I don’t really believe the dictionary summed my favorite activity up quite so well. I understand that nuzzling is not typically something humans do. Animals stick to this form of affection simply because most of them have no hands. However, who really wants a guy with grabby hands anyways? I know I would much rather cuddle, snuggle, nuzzle or, quite frankly, I’d even prefer having a cavity filled over a date with Mister Grabby McGrabpants.

Often, animals will nuzzle to show affection, receive comfort, or even to mark what they think is their territory. I’m not trying to compare myself completely to animals, but I nuzzle for basically the same reasons. I don’t actually think that the people I nuzzle are considered “my territory” but it’s my way of showing that I’m comfortable with them, and for people like me…that really does mean the world. I used to only nuzzle when I was a little bit intoxicated; I guess your true side really does come out at those times. My friends pointed this out to me a while ago and soon enough I came to terms with my nuzzling personality.

There are still a lot of people who get freaked out the first time I rub my head up against them, which I suppose is understandable. So it’s always a pleasant surprise when I nuzzle someone and they nuzzle me back, even if they have no idea what the hell I’m doing. It’s almost as if we’ve reached an understanding; like they know I’m a little strange but still accept me in the hopes that I too will accept them. Everybody has their own little something that helps them glide to a sense of comfort and safety. I find my comfort in a nuzzle.
