Weeping Willow

Like the willow
proud, tall and strong
I sway with the breezes
life’s little twists
I bend, I crack
only to snap back
for I rarely break.

In solitude
unable to survive
amongst my peers
a diamond in the rough
universal mystery
standing strong
against all the
hell thrown at me.

I bleed,
sap flowing from
superficial wounds
to heal one must pain
to survive one must grow
I fork in every direction
yet upwards is my
standard flow.

A loner
alpha wolf in it’s finest
the seclusion lends a gift
all alone, in the dark
I cry but don’t fit
evolution means adaptation
I can withstand your blows.

A noose, tighten rope
sure to weaken but
never for my life to
let go….
inside of my shell
my soul is darkened
but whole.

Yes, like the willow
I sway
I crack
I twist
I bend
but always snap back
only for you to hurt
me once again.
