The Following Story Is True, But Isn’t A First Hand Account…This Is One Story Of Many That Happen In a Friends House In Natchez Mississippi

I have a really good friend who is a physician in Natchez, MS. He lives alone in an absolutely gorgeous old plantation house. The original owner of the house, was dragged out of his home by the Union Soldiers, beaten and hanged in a tree in the yard. The slaves pulled him down and nursed him until he did die about three days later. You can still see where the repairs were made to the door of his bedroom where they broke it down.

There are many many sightings of a woman in period clothes, a man who fits the description of the hanged plantation owner and of children playing outside. My friend use to run a B&B out of this home. Many times people would ask him who the children were they could hear outside, but not see. Many folks who have worked for him or visited him have left abrubtly after either a sighting or unexplained noises. He himself is not afraid at all of whatever is in the house. He has on many occasions after doors slamming shut, bangs on walls and or ceilings, gotten up and slammed a door himself, screaming out to the unseen inhabitants “I’ve got to get some sleep so shut the F*&K up, I have to pay the mortgage on this place!” Nine times out of 10 that’ll do it…having gotten the attention they wanted, they let him have his sleep.

I myself have only spent one night in the house. It was during a convention in Natchez for medical folks…I went with my husband and we stayed with my friend. The next morning while my friend went off to work at the hospital and my husband was at the convention…I stayed in bed loving the lazy morning. Footsteps trotting up and down the steps woke me and made me feel I needed to get up and let the housekeepers do whatever they needed to do. I got up and went to the bathroom and laughed because the lightbulbs were doing the “spooky” house crackling diming and brightening thing. I thought to myself that it was certainly acting like a haunted house, but figured it was the wiring of this old house. After I dressed, I went downstairs to find out I was alone.

Later that night, I happened to mention to my friend about the housekeepers waking me up with the running up and down the wooden stairs…they were off that day..no one was in the house but me…..
