Artist's Description

This image is part of my Mapuche mythology series.
The Cherufe is an enormous anthopophagous creature made of rock and magma. It is said that it lives in the magma pools deep within the Chilean volcanoes and are the source of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other geological events. I chose to create my own interpretation on the Cherufe, illustrating this on the females cape.
