    Another thought evoking work Bernard…......................

la sainteté de l’enfance. The holiness of childhood with eyes wide open.

An interesting highly protective mother with her dependent child. This particularly appeals to me as I was brought up in a single parent family as an only child. I also agree with the concept of the sheer sanctity of childhood. ;-)

I love this image Bernard! Mother and Child is my most favorite subject matter. You have captured the pure love of this union perfectly. peace…

Mother and child is one of my subject too…but most of the time one can feel anguish or despair or fears in the way I see it. Love is not in question but maybe the situation (incertainty about the futur, divorce, war…) This one is really special, it has something of the Christmas spirit… Thank you so much for your comment.

yes mother and child but IMHO another interpretation iis also possible… the child rests on her left shoulder .. is part of shoulder … it is not her child .. she and the child are one .. the child part of her with eyes wide open while her eyes are closed … she sees the world with child eyes …

oh and what is the halo? ... a circle of gold … definition according to the Merrimam-Webster dictionary states a halo is the aura of glory, veneration, or sentiment surrounding an idealized person or thing ... the idealized child .. open, receptive, taking in the whole of everything, absorbing/learning, inquisitive, viewing life as wonder … taking it all in (notice the mouth is closed .. all in .. nothing out) ...
    .
there has always been debate between what the artist sees in his/her work and what others see .. which is more relevant? which is more ‘true’? ... both I say … (smile) meaning encased in symbols known and unknown to the the creator/artist .. can always say more than what the artist thinks it says (big smile)
