My apologies for missing the first one … this is magic Susie … love it♥
Thanks, Bev. Next target is a larger shot of a single object. I’ll need to use a long lens, or a telescope. Looking at ways of adapting my old one to the camera.
Bet u were excited by the way this came out. Looks terrific. Great work!!!
Excited? I was over the moon (as it were). Thanks for the fave and the comment, Anna, I really do appreciate it. The weather is supposed to be quite warm in the coming week so I’m contemplating going out again, but this time with a longer lens, and also to have another go at the wide shot.
This is wonderful. I remember as a small child growing up in So Jersey in the USA, being able to go out back from out farm hose and see the milky way, the planets, the moon and Sputnik. It was breathtaking. There seems to be few places no that don’t have artificial light to dull the sky. It has been a while since I’ve seen the stars.
Thanks so much, Kathryn. I feel blessed to live in Australia, we still have big clear skies even in the midst of a polluted environment ( Big Coal around here)
Wow! How and what do I need to buy. Down on the south coast of NSW we have the most amazing skies at night. I have often thought about attaching a telescope to a camera
Hello Dean: I know the skies down there very well, my parents lived in Currarong until they passed away. I wish now I had kept the house… I love it down there and have not been for 20 years. If you really want to do astrophotography with all the gear, I’d suggest looking for a real life group in Nowra or the Gong. I have absolutely NO idea about gear, I just shot this with my DSLR and a 43mm prime lens on a 20 second shutter (with tripod of course). You could bmail Andrew (who posted above).. he is right into it.
Even more amazing then that it was taken with a prime lens and not with a telescope attached. Well I know what I will be doing tonight (Might have to wait until after Rockwiz though)

A sensational shot of the centre of the galaxy. You have the Lagoon Nebula Smack bang in the middle. Well Done
It was an accident, Andrew, but now that I have done that, I’m going to be looking for better ways to shoot for the stars :)
