She waits no more

Her intense gaze that melted many men’s hearts
Was only ever meant for one
She knew deep in her heart
He would never come
Still
She waited.

Her innocence was taken
That fateful day
All spells broken
Goodness seeped away

The sweetness that had been her star
Vanished as she witnessed
Her lovers cruel fate.

Hidden among the trees
She clutched the branches
To steady her feet
As he lay dying
Surrounded by the enemy

When darkness crept slowly in
She dropped to her feet
And went to him
Tears welled in her eyes
As she gently kissed
Her lover goodbye

Grasping his sword
In her delicate hand
A promise she did make
To never rest
Till she sealed
His murderer’s fate

Cleaning the blade
Of her lovers blood
She sealed her promise
With a kiss on the cool steel

Eyes lowered under her hood
Her elfish innocence evaporated
In a mist of mourning
Transforming from elf
To warrior Queen

She stood defiant
Suddenly dark and cruel
Grasping her sword
Marking her ground

She grew to be feared
by all those around
She grew in stature
Immortalised in song

When last blood
Had finally been claimed
She calmly turned the blade on herself
and as it pierced her darkened heart
She felt her lovers touch
Guiding her to him

It was not meant to be
The darkness claimed
What had been light
Her soul drifted

Never to be free
from the torment she suffered
and came to be
The dark warrior queen…..

She waits no more
