Artist's Description

A photo taken during my honeymoon of El Castillo at Chichen Itza – Cancun, Mexico.

There are no tourists climbing the stairs of the Castillo because I was so fortunate to visit the ruins on the day of the Vernal Equinox in September 2005! That day is considered sacred, and the dying sun would cast a shadow of a serpent writhing down the steps of the pyramid. Every year, over 40,000 people travel to Chichén-Itzá to see the great snake slowly appear down the steps of this massive pyramid.
