My aim as an Abstract Expressionist is to bypass self-censoring thought and allow other doors to open, allowing myself to be influenced by layers deeper than the surface.
I’m strongly influenced by my environment and what is occurring in my life at the time, this comes through naturally in the studio.
My work explores the ‘sensation’ of it on a molecular level, where energy and movement are recorded in the moment.
At times I feel overwhelmed by ‘my place’ within the universe and I find myself working through this on the canvas, the process itself is a spiritual comfort.
Through my work I feel my own evolution taking place. My work is ‘spontaneous’ yet I can slow spontaneous down, step inside spontaneous and work to a point of resonation.
The focus becomes intense as I choose colour, build composition and work with atomic mark making.
Through gestural movement, gravity and paint, the ‘essence’ of these moments is captured on canvas and offered as a form of communication to others.
The journey within continues and I move with the evolvement of the work.
