Fragments of light swelling from ebony to deep blue,
Night clouds sweeping overhead, forming as they do.
Beacons of sunlight probing the early morning sky,
Awakening the sleeping birds, beckoning them to fly.
The glimmer intensifies, growing steadily from the east.
Pushing the darkness away, with the strength of a beast.
The moon descending in the west, looking much thinner,
Rendering the millions of night stars to that of a glimmer.
The growing light in the sky, causes the birds to sing,
Hunting in the nearby meadows, feeding on the wing.
The red sun appears above the land clouded in mist,
Casting away the night chill, with that of a warm kiss.
I’ll arise now, and prepare to greet the brand new day,
Throwing my windows open wide singing as I may.
Feeling the fresh sea breeze, seeping in off the bay,
I thank God for granting me yet another sunny day.
