yeah, i couldn’t decide about that. But Darth Vader alone isn’t the dark side – he’s a member of the dark side and you would say “members of the dark side never play fair”. Does that make sense?
Yeah, but the “Dark Side” is a thing – singular noun. In your sentence “Members of the Dark Side never play fair”, of the Dark Side is a prepositional phrase, so the Dark Side is an object of the preposition that does not directly affect the verb. Members would be the noun that affects it, and you are right – “Members never play fair.” However, when you omit Members of from your line, then The Dark Side becomes the noun and directly affects the verb usage. And, since “Dark Side” is a thing (sort of like saying “The Force”), then is singular and the verb would be “plays”. It is really an awesome shirt! I just happen to stumble upon it and am an English major and have grammar OCDs, so I had to comment. I hope you are not offended. You can delete this if you want. Just trying to help out. :o)
This shirt is amazing. I had to upgrade the servers because the traffic was just too high. I donned my suit of armour (this shirt) and marched to my tribal stomping grounds. I walked into the Dell warehouse, borrowed a forklift, grabbed what I needed, but then I was stopped by a security guard. He asked, “Who are you, and what are you doing here?” I replied, “I am the Fazle. I’m here to obtain new equipment for my various projects.” He said, “Buddy you know you gotta pay for those, right?” I stood up, pointed to my shirt, and said with great glee, “Dude. Look.” He cowered back into his booth where he sat amazed at the awesomeness he has just witnessed.

LOL, this reminds me of Monty Python and The Holy Grail, the scene with the Black Knight of course.
