A month ago we sadly lost Taz, our boy Lionhead (of sorts) bunny. He was nine and a half years old, so a very good age. His girlfriend Savanna (now ten) was left on her own, and while she was coping OK, I thought she was lonely (and I was missing a second bunny around the house). Ignoring all common sense and practicality, yesterday we adopted this little Lionhead Lop boy who we’ve named Rowan. He’s around 12 weeks old, is the butt of Savanna’s temper tantrums at the moment until she bonds with him, but he has certainly put some interest into the daily life of our old bunny, not to mention us.

Rowan is just as cute as he looks, very friendly and cuddly, full of fun and energy, and is very tolerant as we have to cope with dematting his fur which for some reason has become in a bit of a state.

p.s. he IS supposed to be a lop but his ears don’t seem to have settled down yet! ;o)

  • Thank you Vigor. You are so right! Bunnies are very very special companions to those of us to take the time and interest to get to know them. After only one day I am totally besotted with little Rowan! ;o)

I had mine litter trained and I could hold him on his back and he would fall asleep that way. I really loved that little guy.

What a cute critter. It looks like a big ball of fur – with an eye :-)

  • He’s actually a small ball of fur with two eyes (and many fur mats which I am still dealing with). Maybe I should have named him Matt!! ;o) Thanks Richard!

The little lops don’t have their ears fully dropped in some families until 4-5 months. It’s funny to see how each line is so different. He’s a cutie. I used to have Netherland Dwarfs, Flemish Giants and Mini Lops many years ago. Long after my nickname. :o) Great capture.

  • Thanks Bunny. I met Rowan’s brother who had his ears pointing in the opposite direction – they looked like bookends. Sometimes Rowan’s ears both stick up – most weird. I wondered how you got your great name – now I know! ;o)
