Wormie and Baby
Allow me to introduce “the Wormster” and one of his fledgling blackbirds, having lunch today. Wormie got his name because he’d frequently follow me around my back garden with a beak full of worms. This was apparently his way of dropping a hint to me to put out dried worms and suet nibbles for him to feed his babies. Often when I go into the garden Wormie is out there cheeping persistently at me for his favourite menu. He normally sits on top of our garden shed, the lamppost or in the hanging baskets, and has even hopped right into our kitchen and onto the draining board demanding attention! He really is a busy fellow and dedicated dad….

Brill shot :))

Great shot, how did you mangage to get this?.
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Linda! Well I did my duty and put their favourite food out in the dish feeder. Then dad and baby did some feeding on the lawn, BUT retreated into my bamboo where it was too shady for pics! I wickedly chased the baby out of the bamboo and he sat on this piece of old irrigation tubing and dad just carried on feeding him – wherever there is a fledgling – thats where this guy takes the food!

First class shot, Krys; love the wide open beak of that hungry fledgling and love your story to go along with the picture. I can’t imagine a bird coming into my kitchen for lunch! I had to laugh when I read your response to Linda’s question about getting the shot that you had “wickedly” chased the baby out of the bamboo. You’re a character, Krys, and I love the way you phrase things! Keep the pictures and the stories coming!
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Bonnie! I did feel a little mean chasing the baby bird into a more photogenic spot, but I think he and dad weren’t bothered in the great scheme of things….........

Fantastic capture Krys! I love the story about your little, yet pushy friend :)
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Richard! Wormie is an amazing little bird – I feel lucky to have his attention! Since he’s costing me an arm and a leg in specialist bird food, I thought the least he could do is pose for me! ;o)

What a fantastic capture Krys! Yeah…you had to chase the baby out of the bamboo…lol…but this shot was worth it! How lucky you are to have such a great Daddy bird around you. You might just have to have him all the way in the kitchen for breakfast one morning. :)) What a great Dad!! This is such a nice clear crisp catch with obvious action going on. Wonderful. You are definately the Bird Lady…and they know it!!! A definate favorite!!! So well done.
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks so much Ginny! Sorry for the late reply – just back from 2 weeks travelling in Europe, mostly in Italy, and the Italian blackbirds seem to be just as daft as ours! ;o)
