Proud Mum
I’d like to say this was a male swan (since today is Father’s Day in the UK) but I believe she’s a lady as it’s the gals that usually sit on the nest and incubate the eggs – and I saw later she still has some eggs to hatch. After I’d finished snapping she decided it was time the babies went to bed and promptly herded them underneah her and sat on them! Ouch! Mute Swans can weigh up to 50lb and these are fairly new hatchlings looking at the size of them, perhaps a week old.

So beautiful – saw one trample a little one into oblivion at Abbotsbury-the Pen was on the nest and the Cob was ‘caring ’ for them- really upsetting- but must happen so much with so many- this is gorgeous Krys!!
