Feed me, Mama!!!

I am sooooo pleased that I planted this Crab Apple tree nearly 20 years ago when we moved into our (then) brand new home. The tree has grown up to provide a wonderful haven for all our garden birds, large and small alike – winter and summer. Today it was full of fledgling birds – starlings, blackbirds, sparrows, (even a squirrel!) and cuties like this Great Tit (parus major) – all waiting, preening, dozing (hard life being a baby bird) and begging for food! Wish I could share it all with you but this one guy will have to serve as the ambassador for the cause! Difficult to get shots now the leaves are on the trees, but this one obliged!

    Thanks Chris! Yeah cats are a pain – when we had a cat, we used to tell her to go out in the garden and get frightened by the birds. Now we get the odd cat visitor and I have a water pistol ready to attack! I’d nuke the so’n’sos if I got my way, or better still set my killer bunnies on them! ;o)

    Thanks Rod! I tried really hard to get a snap of mama with the babies, but they always got obscured by leaves or deep shade and the feeding is all over in a microsecond! :o)

    they say, they dont like the lemon juice as they clean their coats, hence this should stop them from going around your place

    As a cat owner I can tell you they do not like Lemon juice ..lol… I have 5 of them, and they don’t go near the tree or bird table, but I do have 2 large catmint plants to keep them distracted, :D. They love getting their daily fix…..
