Who are you calling Shortie???
This aptly named Little Owl (athene noctua) may be a pocket-sized featherball but he looks like he doesn’t take prisoners! He did a great flying display for the spectators and apparently isn’t particular if he knocks your eye out while doing so! That’s my boy! ;o)

This little tyke is adorable, Krys. Glad you didn’t lose an eyeball.
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Kimmie. He’s even a little smaller than a burrowing owl which I got some photos of too, but they seem to be asleep most of the time and aren’t terribly exciting! ;o)

I have a brother in law who’s very sensitive about his height; he could identify with Shortie. I also had an uncle named Shorty who didn’t care one bit about being vertically challenged; he had enough spunk and character to more than make up for what he didn’t have in physical stature. This really speaks to me, too, as I’m only about five feet tall. Of course, height doesn’t mean much to me except when I’m trying to reach those out of the way dishes in the uppermost cabinets. Excuse me, Kyrs, for meandering in my response to your photo; it just got lots of thoughts stirred up and I think that’s what a really good photo does. It engages the viewer in many ways. Old Shortie has stirred up lots of thoughts in the noggin this morning. Thanks for sharing such a superb image! You’re the best!
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Bonnie! I’m a 5ft 1in shortie myself!! I can relate to that thing about not being able to reach those high cupboards, but I wouldn’t be tall for all the world! ;o)
