I’ve never been a huge primate fan (apart from Lemurs) but these Western Lowland Gorillas (gorilla gorilla) at London Zoo have given me a new found respect and fascination for their species, and indeed their plight in the wild. This big girl is one of two amazing critters who nobly endured all the gawping and snapping from us human beans ;o) Interestingly, a human girl toddler seemed to be the only one who captured her interest!

Krys Bailey replied
Aw ta Cyn. These gals were sooooooooo amazing and humanlike in all they did, only I couldn’t help but feel they were superior to us human beans!!! ;o)
Cynthia Adams
I read the human beans thing before looking at her,and sniggered at your words Krys..but I was so blown away by the image I forgot to mention the comedy bit.
I think they are superior in many ways..but I do feel so sorry for them in captivity.
I am trying to talk hubby into taking me to London Zoo for a visit..just have to see the girls.xx
Krys Bailey replied
You go Cyn! I went with my pal from Tasmania who was over here for a few days (heck I had to drive us through London avoiding the Congestion Charging Zone and I’m a Hampshire (ground)Hog !) We were at the zoo 4.5 hours and still only saw half of it! Make it a long day!!! ;o) p.s. Bristol Zoo also has some gorillas….......
Christopher E...

Love this Krys, gorillas and orangutans have long fascinated me, perhaps the closeness of that link, but their faces are always so expressive, sadly in captivity, the expressions are often very sad looking but not at all on this occasion, wonderful work,
Regards, Rod.
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Rod! I think much of the time she did look sad, but then I think that is the natural expression of many animals and we may read too much into it! ;o)
