Fire and ice! I’ve never seen a snow-capped volcano so this is a real treat! You would be one heck of a geography teacher, Krys! With your own slides and valuable commentaries to drive the lessons home! What a multi-talented person you are!
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Bonnie! Chile is full of snow-capped volcanoes. As a Geography graduate, I should hope I could teach the subject a little!!! Thanks for your kind words – always nice to know I have shared my places with you! ;o)
hilarydougill

Krys Bailey replied
Thank you Hilary! How are you doing? Are you snowed in??? ;o)
Lori Peters
Your work is always stunning but this mountain peak is just awesome. I love it when snow blows off the peak. xo
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Lori, but that isn’t snow – that’s smoke!!! ;o)
Lori Peters
Are you serious? Is this a volcano?
Krys Bailey replied
Yep, Lori! This is an active volcano! Chile is full of them! Check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villarrica_(volcano)
Lori Peters
D’oh. I just read the description. It is a volcano!!
Krys Bailey replied
S’OK, Lori! Isn’t it magnificent??? ;o)
Lori Peters
It is magnificent. We have several active volcanoes in the NW United States. xoxox
Krys Bailey replied
Yep, I know Lori – who could forget your magnificent and stroppy Mt St Helens???!!! ;o) Your US volcanoes are the north American cousins of this fella in Chile! Same ring of fire!

Well, probably just as well you didn’t get the light show . . .
Krys Bailey replied
Probably, Jay – but then thousands of people choose to live in the path of this hothead! We were even wishing we could relocate here ourselves, rofl! ;o)
Barry Norton
Beautiful capture and vista

If I had nothing but money I would be a volcano junkie, I am sure. I will be going to Vesuvius and Pompeii in about 5 weeks.
Krys Bailey replied
I agree – volcanoes are fascinating (and very good for our planet as long as you don’t live under one, like in Pompeii!!!) ;o) I visited Pompeii yonks ago as a kid. I’m sure you will love the place with all it’s fascinating excavations! Have fun!
Lori Peters
I believe that ring of fire also includes Japan and some Asian countries. No matter where you live, there is something that could cause a catastropic event. xo
Krys Bailey replied
You’re absolutely right! The ring of fire circles the Pacific ocean! You’ll have to forgive me whittering on – I am a geographer after all and fascinated by stuff like this!!! ;o) Have a nice weekend!
