Nutty

I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning when this little guy appeared at our bird feeder. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a Nuthatch and there were a pair of them toing and froing for their breakfast. Unfortunately the feeder was in deep shade at the time but then this little fella went up to inspect the bird nesting basket which was in the sun, and here he is! Pure luck – it’s made my week! ;o) (Maybe I need to get out more, rofl!) ;o)))

it’s not only a Nuthatch it is a rose-breasted Buthatch…they are the dressiest little birds ever – great image

  • Krys Bailey replied

Thanks Anne! We have so few really colourful birdies over here in Merrie Olde England that I get quite excited when I can snap one! ;o)

Krys, what a joy to see this perky little bird! They don’t come to my feeders but I love photos of them because of their jaunty little stance and their unique posturing. Beautifully timed capture of this surprise visitor; glad you were on your toes to record a fleeting moment in the sun!

  • Krys Bailey replied

Thanks Bonnie! I’d missed a good Robin shot this morning and was kicking myself for it – but this cutie more than made up for it. I fortunately had the camera set up just right so all I had to do was hold steady, avoid the leading in the windows (yes this was shot through glass) and press the button! Fluke! ;o)

Beautiful capture Krys, your feeder seems to be in a lot better place than mine are! ;-) Love the colours on this beautiful little birdie…

  • Krys Bailey replied

Thanks Zoe. I have a feeder right outside my upstairs “office” window, below a tree, but the feeder is in shade mostly this time of year. The trick is to get the birdies on there way in or out when they perch on the tree, or in this rare case, the nestbasket! Have to be dang quick!
