Black and White
Pair of Black-Necked Swans, native to South America. I first saw one of these critters on Lake Villarrica in Chile but it wasn’t a very cooperative model. The handsome boys in this photo reside at the Arundel Wildlife and Wetlands Trust, West Sussex, England.

Krys Bailey replied
Thank you Hilary! These are for some reason notoriously difficult not to overexpose while snapping – worse than the pure white swans!

Beautiful image Krys! I’ve never seen swans like this before. They’re gorgeous!

Krys Bailey replied
Hahaha! Looks like they dipped their necks in some black ink, eh? ;o)

They are a rather spiffing fine example.
Very good shot, great clarity. I must trundle down there, as soon as I am better, still off sick.
I did not realise how long it takes to recover from pneumonia
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks CJ! Poor you! However did you catch Pneumonia?!!! Yes a trundle down there would do you good – I’ve taken out annual membership – its so peaceful and lovely on a nice day (when we have them)! ;o)

Wow, these are such neat swans, Krys. Glad you were able to get them there, when you didn’t in Chile.

Nice shot.
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Kimmie! I got off one shot of one in Chile. Yep, birds are fantastic! Don’t forget to tell Sidney that Auntie Krys said so!!! :o)
Richard G Witham
Great photo Krys. I can see how hard it would be to get this photo without blowing out the white.
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Richard! Its weird isn’t it – I can generally cope with white swans exposure wise! Must be those dang black necks!
