Dos Amigos
“Hey look, amigo, ees dees Gringos”........
Two guanacos look at us with curiosity in the Torres del Paine National Park in southern Chile. As we were driving ourselves round, they would quite often saunter across the road in front of us. They were absolutely everywhere we went – guanacos that is, not these specific two! ;o)

What a cute shot….. aren’t they handsome. ....... and a bird in the frame too, or is that a plane? maybe it’s one of those BIG mosquitos from Colorado. ha!

Its a bird and it could be a condor or an eagle or some such! Thanks Kimmie!

How freaky would it be if those same 2 kept crossing the road in front of you? I love camelids – more!
Krys Bailey in reply to hilarydougill’s comment, 2 months ago
Thanks, Hilary! Guanacos are the largest of the South American Camelids. In size order the next smaller are llamas, followed by alpacas and then the dainty vicunas! ;o) Guanacos are hard to keep in captivity apparently although some llamanaco cross breeds have been created and I saw a captive Guanaco in Peru.

I love camelids too Jay! Welcome to the llama lovers club! They get frisky too, like your elk thingies!
Krys Bailey in reply to Mar Silva’s comment, 2 months ago
Thanks, Mar! I’d love to pet them too, but as abundant as they are, they are still pretty wild. You’d love it though, positively herds of them in some places!

Yeah, but elk don’t spit. On the other hand, llamas don’t generally gore people . . .
