Freckles
Speckled pony foal – I believed it was a Shetland pony, as it was with its mother at the time and she looked like a Shetland pony. However, the Shetland Pony experts in the UK have emailed me to tell me there is no such thing as spotted Shetlands so there we are! ;o) All I know is I just wanted to pick up the cute critter and take him home with me.

Krys Bailey replied
Thank you, Dawn! He is the cutest pony I ever saw and could have only been a few days old!
dawndavies
he is wonderful and i dont think he is a shetland, but would love to know what breed, i have seen one simular before many years ago, but for the life of me i cannot think of the breed, but it is just stunning, makes you wonder what he will be like full grown, great picture, have a fab weekend dawn
Krys Bailey replied
I don’t know Dawn – I saw him with his mother who looked like a Shetland! Who cares anyway – he is unique, don’t ya think? Have a great rest-of-the-weekend too!
Crockpot
Sooo precious!!! I love it! And he was in the wild?
Krys Bailey replied
Thank you Crockpot! Yes, New Forest Ponies are sort of wild, do their own thing and roam free all over the Forest. Historically they are supposed to belong to the Forest “Commoners” and their welfare is observed and managed (the ponies, not the Commoners, although maybe they got that the wrong way round!) ;o)
Bonnie T. Barry
Krys, this is so wonderful. A tale of fresh new life and a tale of the wonders and beauty of creation. Thank you for sharing the joy in your distinctively beautiful way!
Krys Bailey replied
Thank you, Bonnie! I knew you would love this baby! Thank you so much for being my first buyer on RB! :o)

Looks a real sweetie :)
Krys Bailey replied
Thanks Michael! I have seen a British Spotted pony but it was larger than this little baby will grow to. Whatever, he is a real sweetie, regardless! ;o)
Ellen
Never seen an animal like this; Very beautiful photo!
Curtiss Simpson
Ah this is cute, adorable !
whisperingruth
How precious it that! Looks like a leopard Appalossa foul but if he’s really tiny then I don’t know!!
Krys Bailey replied
Yeah, I know what you mean about the Appaloosa, but in the New Forest we only have New Forest Ponies and Shetland! Maybe I should go check him out! This was photographed last autumn! Thanks for your kind words! ;o)
whisperingruth
Could he have been crossed with an Appy? Regardless, that’s one hell of an awesome foal and quite the brilliant capture!! xx
Krys Bailey replied
I don’t think his mummy was THAT wayward, rofl! They are wild ponies and pick their own … er…. beloveds! There are only New Forest ponies and Shetlands in this area, so I doubt if he could have any Appy blood. I know though, I still wish I had kidnapped him! He’d have got on terrific with my Devilbunnies (don’t ask!) :o)
dawndavies
he is certainly something special and i would have loved to keep him too, great capture, have a fab weekend dawnx

Maybe it is a Pony of the Americas (POA) they look like Appaloosas. Or it could be an appy/shetland cross. He’s adorable.
Krys Bailey replied
I have been informed now that although these look like Shetland Ponies, they are not the real thing. I think he is a fluke, but a very pretty one! ;o)
Tatiana R
Oh, he is so sweet! Lovely shot!
Sherry Osborn
He looks appolassa to me. They also have a japanese appolassa? Maybe he has one of these in him!
gaypony
he could be an appaloosa miniature pony.
gaypony
and you can get shetland with appy markings. its called palloose
Krys Bailey replied
His mother was small and white, about Shetland sized. I think he’s just cute whatever!
gaypony
he would be a palouse or appy miniature pony i reckon. he gorgeous anyway
gaypony
