Happy Birthday to Me :(
well, sort of. This is probably the last birthday I will celebrate. My mother was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer earlier this week. Normally, my family doesn’t really celebrate adult birthdays, just the kids. We acknowledge birthdays, we just don’t have cake and ice cream and all that for the grown ups.
However, my mom wanted us to have a little gathering at my sister’s and have cake and everything so it would be something happy and give her something to look forward to and take her mind off of things. Of course, all I can think of is that, short of a miracle, my mother will never be here to celebrate another birthday with me.
We live with my mom in the house I grew up in. She’s really my best friend. She’s the one I always go to when I need to talk or have a problem. and she confides in me too. I can’t imagine life without her. While I’ve been fully aware that my parents are getting older and that the day would eventually come that I would lose them, I never imagined it would be as soon as this.
Some of my friends here already know about my mom, and I’d like to thank you all again for your concern, prayers and friendship. It has helped more than you can know.

I’m sure at this most difficult and emotional time it is hard to think of celebrating at all…but, with each day, each hour and each moment that passes, love your mom, enjoy your mom, hold her, tell her things you’ve always wanted to say. Celebrate her life and your lives together!
My prayers for your mom, I will always pray for miracles, and I will pray for understanding, peace and strength for you, the friends and family.

thank you Cherie. I’m fortunate that I have the kind of family where we tell each other we love one another all the time. I’m doubly fortunate to live with my mom and be so very close to her. I tell my mom all the time how much I love her and how important she is to all of us all the time, and she tells me the same. Thank you so much for your prayers and kind thoughts. thank you to all of you who posted here and sent me bubble mails. I can’t tell you how much I truly appreciate it. The day went well and the cake was good (chocolate!). It’s a comfort to think that people I’ve never met face to face are thinking of us and, for those who choose to, are keeping us in their prayers. Thanks again
