Cinders: Ash and Blue (birds)

inch by stifling inch
i have swallowed enough sand
in my loss and miss
to fill up a grown man
as i suffocate
time aches
like fragmented femurs
as i watch the clock
each second
……ticks by
brow furrowed
to the tune of barren desert
the cactus crooked pricks
rip raw and bruising

i cannot breathe
as it stings my lids
and burns my heart
i cough like croup has crushed me

they seep
leaving trails of muddy grains
as sand
so much heartbreaking sand
steals my soul
and fills my cells
spills from my mouth
seeps from my eyes
my blood beats taupe tales
of Joshua trees
and lizard crawls

the enormity
a human hour glass of calamity

Sand…if enough pressure is put..and enough heat…becomes glass. This poem is a glass window gazing into you…I’m sorry to see so much sadness within. < 3

It’s so unreal how fragile our hearts can be….
my favorite line “steals my soul
    and fills my cells
    spills from my mouth
seeps from my eyes” I know this ,so well…
    hugging you

Such BIG hugs to you, my love. I do feel for you so very deeply. I have been there and know full well how you are feeling. Your words are so eloquent and meaningful that they bring a tear to the hardest eye.
    Lots of love

I hate the very thought of you being oppressed by such sadness, Christie, and yet, for so many of us, when the pain is so close to the surface, the words just have to come. I know the desert all too well. xox

sand eventually makes beautiful glass, and lends texture and grip to the the little creatures that abide there. hugs and more hugs and i’m going to find you that magic wand somewhere….
