Nostalgia stains blue as Sierra

it can be heard in the river song
piercing whistle riding west
like the quiet timbre of tuolumne
haunting along the currents reach
carpals of recall
pulling ever on at night
in the movement of its sway

along the sticky sweet
of apple orchards
aromas rising of orange blossoms
nostalgia’s music hums
a doleful solo hymn

the acorns on the old oak

will always tumble
landing on california ground
echoes spin a sad ballet
on the streams solitude
stretching its poignant plasma
to slide along the waters edge

memories waft
as catfish scent
and charcoal smoke
indelible along our bare skin
and laughter lit faces

seconds grow legs
days grow wings
years fly by like years will do
i find myself knee deep in bluegrass
throat tight over missing you…..

My word, Christie, how you are able to be so descriptive without overdoing it and pack emotion and passion into it, too! Amazing! I can not help but read over and over that last verse as it leaves me breathless and in thought. Michael

  • thank you Micheal. I’m so glad you find it so. xoxo

I feel myself carried westward through the river valleys on a hymn of longing as relentless as the river itself. How impossibly beautiful and poignant this is, Christie and that last couple of lines…haunting. xox

  • oh Lianne, i was so moody writing this. You picked up its essence and felt it. I so appreciate that. xoxo

“All to myself I think of you,
Think of the things we used to do,
Think of the things we used to say,
Think of each happy bygone day,
Sometimes I sigh, and sometimes I smile,
But I keep each olden, golden while
    All to myself.”
    Wilbur D. Nesbit, author

    Oh Gypsy woman
I had a vision of you wearing a long linen dress and from the hem you pull a thread and slowly pull on it while twirling, the thread is gold, you bless the thread with your poetry and release it to the stars…

I love what your writing does to my head and heart..
    stunning xoxoxo

  • Everything looks so beautiful through your eyes, Earth roamer ;) I love to see your visions. You are like summer sun to me xoxo
