LOVE this one… it’s just so disorienting… I have no idea which way to look…. it looks like the bubbles are floating to the left, which means up, which means the model is sticking his face IN the water and not OUT of the water, which means you must have taken this picture underwater… and I could be wrong about everything I said right now, which makes this picture all the more amazing!

hey, thanks all of you! so much! its not hard to shoot it. or, it was actually a big pain shooting it. theoretical it is not. a simple background lighting with one light on the background. lots of black clothes to absorb light. 2 lights with reflectors at the tank, just avoid reflections. biggest issue is that you will need a view format camera which can be painful. but im sure its works with a digital slr as well. maybe this got more messy than useful?

When I saw this shot I thought the same as Dr Jphoto’s comment:

but then I thought:

so if he is pointing his face into the water, how can he make the bubbles go down? Did he have his head deep in the fish tank, exhale, and move his head quickly upwards out of the water? I cant tell which way the bubbles are going, I guess they must be going to the right then… But then I couldnt imagine how they could be coming out of his mouth if his mouth is up there…

hey everyone, thanks heaps for positive comments! it warms when it gets colder and colder up here in norway:-) and christiaan; the bubbles are just a result of someone blowing in air bubbles from the bottom of the tank.
