quin·tes·sence – noun
(in ancient and medieval philosophy) the fifth essence or element, ether, supposed to be the constituent matter of the heavenly bodies, the others being air, fire, earth, and water.
Yesterday, my friend and I were up before dawn and out on Lake Erie in his boat. I took my camera along. Our day was cut short when the throttle on his boat broke. Also while taking pictures, a wave caught me off guard and off balance and I wrenched my back. He was able to “jury rig” the throttle to get us back to the marina.
