Train wreck

It took him three days
Three days to find someone else
This one is “Proud of my $38,000 body”
She whips her hair around as he turns
I catch the scent of cigarettes, cheap booze and the crippling need to be seen
I laugh derisively as she gets stumped by such tough questions as
“What do you do?” and
“What do you want to do with your life?”
My dad sits in his chair and glares at her
I try to hold in my laughter
I roll my eyes as my brother tries to defend his newest “girlfriend”
Slowly sucking all legitimacy out of the word
As I walk away shaking my head in embarrassment
I can’t shake this feeling
A feeling I know I shouldn’t feel
It’s almost like I’m…jealous
That doesn’t sit right with me
