This is one of my illustrations for my up-coming book “Journey of the Ghorks”. Here we have Nanny Schmirgel (a kindly old mountain goat-like creature), greeting young Schmim, the baby of the four Ghorks. Little Schmim is telling his Nanny off for not allowing him to have his morning tea – "like she promised!!!!
The original artwork is for sale – it is a diptych (that is, it is a painting consisting of TWO canvases). Acrylic on stretched canvas.
How dare she forget his morning tea. I hope Schmim gave her a sound thrashing, but looking at her … I doubt it :)
She didn’t actually ‘forget’ – more like “not the right time yet!”……. Schmim in my story is based on the personality of our youngest boy, (Andrew – who now is 27!!), and Nanny Schmirgel is based on Carol’s mother’s personality, an adorable but powerful lady. There were no ‘thrashings’ but a lot of laughing and ‘clucking’. It’s all in good fun. Thanks too for your lovely write-up on me in your journal – I really am most grateful for this. Good on you. Cheers – Rainer
woooeee!! I so can’t wait until the book comes out! (big big smile) … so love your creatures Rainer (big smile)
Thanks Owl……. we too are running low on patience waiting for this to become a reality. It will happen soon, it will happen soon, it will happen soon……….(if I say that often enough it may make it happen faster???) Cheers – Rainer :)))
