The overall basic composition seems to be in the form of a + sign. There is such style there; there is to use a quaint word, grace; and, also, such tremendous taste. One doesn’t tend to feel deeply shocked/or, disgusted at his chosen subject matter; which also makes it very highly acceptable and appealing. The composition seems to me to be so extremely well balanced; even though the guy is in a position of unbalance…standing on only one foot…whilst leaning over…as he is about to complete his step…whilst holding onto a walking stick…the very careful capturing of ‘the moment’! The face, in particular reminds me of the Italian greats! ;-)
