Smile!
Here’s my first attempt at a colour drawing of a tiger, it’s not perfect so please feel free to comment or criticise. I’ve used A4 Canson paper and what I can only describe as a “selection” of different pencils!

Love it especially the sharpness in the eyes!

Thanks!, it’s come out a lot lighter than I’ve drawn it though – I think I’ll try to upload it again!

He’s very cool!!!! the only thing I see that may… and i an strenching this…. need a little adjustment is how far the mouth is open for the teeth and the with of the bottom of the nose… BUT I must add, that could be a matter of taste and not a need. it is such a fantastic drawing!!

Thanks for your comments Patricia I keep looking at this and seeing so many things I could or should have changed here and there and the mouth was one of them! Glad you like it! =)

I am no expert, but this looks fabulous in my eyes. Love the fierce expression and menacing mood.

Absolutely beautiful, you should be proud :)
AnitaInverarity
He’s great !! I love how you almost get a human expression in your big cats.
I’m not sure if this would improve it at all, but I be tempted to add a little white highlighting in those teeth to make his snarl stand out ?? BEAUTIFUL xxxxxxx
koop27 replied
Thanks Anita, I totally agree about the teeth, would it be cheating to add a little white and upload it again! Glad you like it though. =)

Oh my Sam I guess I need to make room somewhere at some point for this one.

hahaaaa
now thats anger
very good work
Patricia Anne ...
wow it looks a bit different, did you make some adjustments, the mouth works well in this contraster colors
koop27 replied
Hi Patricia, yeh I changed the teeth slightly and raised the mouth a tiny bit on the right-hand side and then scanned it again. The colours now match the original this time – the first upload came out far too light.
Patricia Anne ...
well i think you got it! the mouth looks like a snarl which is what a tiger would do! Lovely work!
Iktomi
oooh love the expression!!
Iktomi
the mouth might be too drawn downwards for a completely photo-like image, but it certainly adds to the artistic nature of the painting, and i wouldn’t change it.

I’ll leave the same comment here that I did in the Animal Kingdom forums Koop: Congratulations Koop27! I did think it was a photograph when I opened the forums to see your work! Then, reading your story … you drew this
?! WOW!!! You are extraordinarily talented! The title makes me smile, looking at that growl. Well done and congrats again!

You are so damn good at this, perhaps you will pardon my french… I work for a huge corporation that has a large staff of artists, called Hallmark cards. I do not draw for them. I tried for years and years to interest them in my drawings, cartoons, etc, and at one point, an editor friend pointed out that there’s no way they they would let me draw my way without turning the concepts upside down and inside out and watering it down.
That’s why, even though it would be great to make a living from what you see of mine here at the RB, I am now more careful what I wish for, because as soon as I become an employee with my art, I become a slave to someone else, and there goes the art.
Of course there are exceptions, and I hope you find a groove that works for you, because these are all exceptional.
And this one kills me. I am slain, I’m laughing and I can’t get up, I’m clapping and the lights won’t go on!

Hi Syd thank you so much for you message, so sorry it’s taken so long for my reply! I do hope one day to work for a company such as Hallmark but I understand what you are saying, I’ve had so many promising leads with people saying they can help me acheive my goal – these days I don’t get excited about what could happen because more often than not it doesnt lead to anything, that way I’m not dissappointed! I think I’ll just keep plodding along with my drawings and if someone notices my work and can offer me that dream job – that would be fantastic! But for now what will be will be!!!
