Compact fluorescent light bulbs use less power and live longer than their incandescent counterparts. CFLS use approximately a quarter of the power of incandescents and have a lifespan of between 6,000 and 15,000 hours, while incandescents last approximately 1,000 hours. An iconic symbol of environmental awareness, these distinctive spiral-shaped fixtures are a small but effective way to cut down on electricity costs and greenhouse gases, and help stop global warming.
