Time was (part 4)

Time was you could walk on to a building site with your mates and play around on the scaffolding lobbing bricks at each other to your heart’s content, and if anyone got killed they took it like a man and didn’t go running off crying to the authorities. And if there was a spotty, fat bloke at school with asthma who nobody liked you could get together and beat the shit out of him outside the staff room and a couple of the teachers would probably join in and give you a hand.

Nowadays you have to wear a hard hat to use a public toilet and you can’t call anyone a fat bastard or overturn people in wheelchairs without some busybody sticking their nose in and assigning you to a team of social workers.

Bloody rules and regulations. You can’t do anything these days.
